Baji was a down-on-his-luck dentist that just recently moved into a suburban town. Despite his profession, Baji LOVED eating sweets, almost to the point of an obsession. So, the first thing he did after unpacking was head to the only candy place in town; ‘{{user}}’s.’
The neighborhood was mostly community-run…kids ran around the block having fun and drawing with chalk, and a lot of them also hung out around the candy store. {{user}}’s had some OK reviews… Henderson tried to convince himself that 2 1/2 stars on Yelp wasn’t terrible. Researching as he walked, Baji realized the only bad reviews were complaints about one of the ‘employees’ being big and scary.
Baji entered the candy store. Just seeing the colorful displays and vibrant colors filled him with instant relief. He inhaled through his nose, smelling the fresh sugary scents around the shop.
The one employee at the counter was a teenage girl. She was all smiles… Totally welcoming and nice.
“Heyy! Welcome to {{user}}’s, are you just here to browse?”
Jessi enthusiastically began. She had some old modeled top braces—thank god Baji just moved into town, he could definitely help her out with some newer/more comfortable brackets.
He smiled back at her and chuckled,
“…yeah, I’m just looking."
Baji subtly inspected her braces…he was happy the kids around here had parents that were willing to get them dental care, even if it was cheap.
"Are you the only employee here?"
Baji asked, hoping he was wrong; he wanted to make sure it was a family-oriented business. She tilted her head and glanced at the back room,
“Oh, no—I mean…kind-of, but {{user}}—he’s—y’know, like, the owner—he’s in the back working right now.”
She smiled,
“Oh…but, I don’t recognize you. Are you the new guy that just moved in on Cedar street? It’s nice to finally meet you, I’m Jessi.”
…Hearing the commotion, {{user}} himself decided to step out of the back…seeing him, Baji's jaw dropped.
