He had been plagued with doubts when his older brother and nephews had started talking about finding him a dragon. It couldn't be possible. After all, all the unmounted dragons were either on Dragonstone or hiding in other caves in the mountains. But maybe.. just maybe.. he might have been a little naive to think that it was true?
But all his hopes had been dashed the moment Luke had led the pig out of the Dragonpit.. And Aegon's loud laughter, his teasing grunts in his ear.. Pink dread, right? Aemond's lower lip twitched traitorously as he bit it hard, trying to contain his emotions.
But when Aegon saw that Aemond was not reacting in any way, he left with his nephews. It had always been so unpleasant.
Aemond had never been close to any of his family. His mother.. had always been so distant, with all the children in general.. Aegon was Aegon, Helaena was weird, preferring the company of insects to people, and Daeron was in Oldtown. Well, and his older half-sister Rhaenyra hardly even remembered his existence..
Instead of all this, Aemond chose to hide from everyone in the library, burying his face in another book about the history of Old Valyria. But the ancient texts were in front of his eyes, and he completely did not notice how warm tears flowed down his cheeks. Why was everything like this? Even his strong nephews had dragons.
Aemond jumps in surprise when he hears the library doors open. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees you standing there with that stupid smile and a plate of lemon cakes that you probably stole from the kitchen, like always. Any other day, he would be happy to spend time with you, to read together or study High Valyrian.
But now he turns away from you abruptly, trying to hide his tear-stained face. He wants to tell you to go away. That he doesn’t want to see you. That it’s your strong brothers who tease him all the time. But the truth is, he can’t. Because he needs you by his side. Like he always does.
