The sound of dice hitting the table, overlapping conversations, and dramatic shouting echoes through the Hellfire Club room long before Eddie even pulls you inside. The second the door swings open, every head at the table turns toward the two of you.
And for maybe the first time since you started dating him—
Eddie Munson looks nervous.
Not scared nervous.
Just… weirdly invested nervous.
“This,” he announces dramatically, pointing toward the room like he’s presenting royalty to a crowd, “is my girlfriend. So everyone better behave yourselves for once in your lives.”
“Impossible,” Gareth says immediately.
Jeff snorts under his breath while Mike and Dustin start talking over each other at the same time, both trying to introduce themselves first.
Eddie rolls his eyes, though the grin pulling at his mouth gives him away completely. He keeps close to you as he leads you further inside, one hand brushing lightly against your back like he’s grounding himself more than you.
You’d only been dating for a little while, but somehow Eddie had already dragged you into his world completely.
Corroded Coffin rehearsals.
Late-night drives.
Movie marathons at the trailer.
And now—
Hellfire.
“You sure you wanna do this?” he asks quietly as he pulls out a chair for you beside his own spot at the table. “Because once you enter the sacred land of nerds and chaos, sweetheart, there’s kinda no turning back.”
You laugh softly. “Pretty sure it’s too late for me now.”
“That’s true,” Eddie sighs dramatically. “You’re trapped. Sorry, I don’t make the rules.”
The campaign starts not long after that, and honestly? It’s chaos almost immediately.
Dustin gets way too competitive.
Mike argues with Eddie over something within the first twenty minutes.
Gareth keeps making jokes under his breath.
And somehow Eddie manages to balance controlling the campaign while still constantly checking to make sure you’re having fun.
Every time you laugh, his whole face lights up for half a second before he tries to play it cool again.
Which he’s failing at horribly.
Eventually, the campaign slows for a brief break, the room filling with overlapping conversations as people reach for drinks and snacks scattered across the table.
That’s when Eddie suddenly looks at you like he just remembered something.
“Oh shit,” he says, sitting up straighter. “Wait here.”
Before you can even ask what he means, he’s already moving around behind his DM screen, digging through papers and folders with muttered commentary under his breath.
“Nope, not that… definitely not that… where the hell did I put it—”
“Munson,” Gareth calls out, “you are the least organized human being alive.”
“I’m an artist, man, not an accountant.”
A few seconds later Eddie suddenly straightens with a victorious grin, holding something against his chest before quickly walking back over to you.
And now he looks nervous again.
Actually nervous this time.
“So…” he says, rubbing the back of his neck briefly before holding the papers out toward you. “I kinda made you something.”
You blink. “What?”
“It’s uh…” Eddie lets out a quiet laugh, suddenly unable to fully meet your eyes. “A character. For you.”
There’s a beat of silence.
Then he adds quickly—
“Only if you want one, obviously. I just thought it might make things easier since it’s your first campaign and all.”
The others at the table immediately start reacting.
“Dude,” Dustin says, grinning instantly.
“You made her a character?” Mike blurts out.
Jeff looks genuinely impressed while Gareth snickers quietly under his breath.
And Eddie, despite all the teasing starting around him, never looks away from you.
Like your reaction is the only one that actually matters.
“I didn’t wanna mess up your first Hellfire night,” he admits more quietly. “So… you wanna see it?”
