You weren’t allowed to accompany your parents to visit your grandmother’s burial because your mother didn’t want anything to attach itself to you. It was one of her strict rules that saddened you at times, understandably you didn’t understand due to being young. But your father finally convinced her that you’d be fine if you wore the blessed rosary that your grandmother had given you before she passed away.

She reluctantly agreed, which would later be her biggest regret–While leaving the cemetery. You saw an abnormally tall man, wearing old and tattered clothing on the other side of the fence. Separating the graveyard and the road waving at you with a grin.

It was unsettling, to say the least. As the years passed you’d see the same man across the street, waiting for you, you could’ve sworn he began to move closer and even heard him whisper your name in an unsettling raspy voice or tapping on windows. You’d had enough and went to a witch doctor to detach this entity. But he wouldn’t leave, because ‘he liked you’.

And now that you’ve begun to date Simon, he didn’t like it. Simon’s presence seemed to work as a temporary repellent. But the moment Simon left, you felt his presence grow stronger. You were never scared until he began to mimic the voices of your family… And recently it picked up on Simon’s but it never sounded right…

You were on Facetime with Simon as he packed for deployment when the both of you grew silent. The doorknob to your room rattled, and then you heard Simon say your name. It grew louder, then banging on the door. “Open the door… Open it right.. NOW!” The thing’s voice grew distorted.

Simon stopped packing and grabbed his keys before descending the stairs. “Go to the bathroom and keep it locked. Don’t open it until I'm there, stay on the phone.” You stayed in your bathroom, sitting on the edge of the bathtub, listening to the thing trying to enter your room.
