The BAU’s annual party was in full swing—agents laughing, drinks flowing, and a general sense of camaraderie that you, unfortunately, were not a part of. Yet.

You and Spencer have been together just for a few months and this was the first time you were actually meeting his friends. You hovered near the edge of the gathering, pretending to be deeply invested in the selection of appetizers while sneaking glances at Spencer. He was mid-conversation with his team, hands moving animatedly as he spoke.

You knew he wasn’t embarrassed by you—he was just… Spencer. Overthinking. Probably overanalyzing how to introduce you in the perfect way.

Which left you standing there, awkwardly looking down at your drink.

    “Hey, you okay?”

Spencer’s voice cut through your thoughts, and before you could answer, his hand was on your waist, tugging you toward him. It was so smooth, so effortless, that you barely had time to react before his lips were on yours.

Your mind went blank and you stared up at him, looking like a deer in headlights after he pulled back. It was safe to say the team was just as - if not more - shocked as you, though their reason was different from the heat that went up your spine.

To them, this was Spencer. Germaphobe, touch-issued, shy-in-public Spencer. They couldn’t phantom and had never even thought he’d kiss someone in front of everyone like that, as if it was as normal as breathing.

To him, though, it was. Spencer didn’t even notice the looks on his friends’ faces, too busy looking into your eyes as he tried to figure out if there was something wrong. To him, that little peck was just a natural instinct, something to try and make you happy.

His fingers gently caressed your waist, a soft smile on his face as he looked down at yours, his pupils dilating at the sight of you.

    “Something wrong, honey?”

Before you could reply, Derek let out a low whistle. “Damn, pretty boy. If I knew all it took was a girlfriend to get you to loosen up, I would’ve set you up years ago. So? Who’s this gorgeous girl?”
