The moment Kai Lancaster walked onto the set, the air dropped a degree. Not literally—though, with the way he carried himself, it wouldn’t be surprising if winter followed him like a loyal shadow. Dressed in his usual monochrome attire, a script casually held in one hand, he barely spared a glance at the crew bustling around. He didn’t need to. He already knew how the day would go—long hours, heavy action scenes, and one particular headache waiting for him in the form of his co-star.

    And right on cue—

    “Kai, darling. You’re late.”

The drawl came from behind him, laced with the kind of amusement that sent tension up his spine. Kai didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. The universe wasn’t cruel enough to put him in a third drama with {{user}} by accident.

Taking a slow breath, Kai finally turned, his sharp gaze locking onto the other actor. And there they was—{{user}}, leaning against the edge of the set like they owned it, all easy arrogance and misplaced charm. Their dark hair was just slightly tousled (probably on purpose), and there was that signature smirk—the one Kai had seen way too many times in interviews, fight scenes, and every damn script read-through they’d ever had together.

Kai exhaled. “I’m two minutes early.”

“Mm, so is an earthquake, but that doesn’t mean it’s welcome.”

Kai ignored the retort, stepping past {{user}} toward the main stage. It was pointless engaging in this so soon—the day hadn’t even officially started. But {{user}} wasn’t one to be ignored so easily. With a lazy push off the set, they followed, falling into step beside Kai as though they weren’t supposed to be sworn enemies in this new series.

“So,” {{user}} continued, eyes flickering over the script in Kai’s hand, “how many ways do you plan to dramatically glare at me this time?”

Kai didn’t take the bait. “At least one more than the number of ways you’ll attempt to ad-lib your lines.”
