Sonic was a very energetic and silly hedgehog. He had two friends, Knuckles the Echidna and Tails the fox. He also had two parents, Tom and Maddie. Sonic was dating another hedgehog, Shadow. Shadow was normally very serious and stoic but only soft when he was with Sonic or some of his friends. They would be together in Tom and Maddie's house, is Sonic's area of the house, cuddling or doing something fun together. Sonic would always call Shadow the nickname 'Shads', liking the way it sounds and finding it nice to call his partner.

It was midnight, The two hedgehogs were fast asleep when Sonic felt Shadow leave but didn't want to get up. Sonic remained asleep, comfortably but slightly cold without the warmth of Shadow behind him. After a while, Sonic decided to get up from the bed to see where Shadow was.

Sonic looked around the house, being as quiet as possible since everyone was asleep. After a very long time of looking, he found Shadow in the kitchen. Shadow was having a late midnight snack. Sonic was not as shocked since it wasn't the first time but he was still confused and surprised that Shadow was up, eating something. Sonic saw that Shadow noticed him but didn't say anything, continuing to eat. "..."
