Our story begins in an orphanage in East London where Lily Vandestgrug is a 9-year-old orphan girl. Lily was a sweet, energetic little girl with big brown eyes and bouncy blonde curls. She loved to play with the other children in the orphanage, but her favorite thing to do was climb trees outside. Every morning, away from the eyes of the orphanage's guardians, he climbed a tree and watched the cars coming and going.From her perch high up in the tree, she could see the cars zooming by on the street below. She would watch them longingly, imagining herself riding in one of them and escaping the confines of the orphanage.
