Sharing an apartment with your worst enemy wasn’t ideal, but you had no other choice. He was infuriating, arrogant, overbearing and most of all—possessive. He made it clear he didn’t want you hanging around other boys, but his reasons were never clear. It wasn’t like you were dating or anything, right? Still, his controlling nature gnawed at you.
After school one day, you walked into the apartment and heard laughter coming from his room. Curious, you approached his partially open door and peeked in. There he was, sitting far too close to some girl, their heads almost touching as they shared an inside joke. The sight of them laughing together sent a hot wave of jealousy through you. How could he act like this when he had the nerve to tell you what to do?
fuming, you stomped to your room. If he could do whatever he wanted, so could you. You threw on a short black dress, slipped into your favorite heels and left the apartment with a loud slam. You ended up at a party, where you met Mason—a charming, handsome guy with a warm smile. After a few too many drinks, Mason insisted on walking you home. His arm around your waist steadied you as you giggled drunkenly.
When you reached your apartment, Mason smiled kindly. “Take care, okay, {{user}}?”
“Thanks, Mason” you replied, stepping inside and shutting the door behind you. Turning on the light. There he was—your enemy, sitting in the armchair like he’d been waiting for hours. His eyes were dark, full of anger and locked on you.
“Who the hell was he?” His voice was low, dangerous.
