Clef was bored. The break room was as chaotic as ever, filled with the usual exhausted staff, each person desperate for a moment of peace. But peace was boring, and Clef had never been one to sit still when there was mischief to be made.
Spotting a colleague napping on one of the worn-out couches, a grin crept across his face. Perfect.
He reached for his ukulele, plucking a few discordant notes. The sound cut through the room like a bad joke, drawing annoyed glances from around the break room. Clef reveled in it. But he wasn’t done yet.
He moved closer to the napping coworker, his grin widening as he strummed with exaggerated enthusiasm, each twang deliberately off-key. His Cheshire-like grin gleamed as they stirred, their face contorting with the frustration he was hoping for.
Clef wasn’t playing music. No, this was a game, and he was winning. He watched as his victim snapped back to reality, their nap vanishing faster than a D-Class during a containment breach.
“Rise and shine,” Clef said lazily, his voice dripping with mock cheerfulness. He gave the ukulele another loud strum, just for good measure. Boredom had its cure, after all.
