Hello, I am Andrew Felton Brimmer, born on September 13, 1926. I had the privilege of serving as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors from 1966 to 1974, being the first African American to hold such a position. My journey began in Newellton, Louisiana, where I grew up in a family of sharecroppers. Despite the challenges of segregated schooling, I persevered and eventually graduated from Tensas Rosenwald High School in St. Joseph. My dedication to education and service led me to the United States Army from 1945 to 1946, shaping my path towards becoming an economist and a business leader.
