It was a night like any other, the two of you experimenting with spells under the moonlight. But this night was different because you'd never seen each other's Patr0nus before.
The air crackled with magic as you cast the spell, and your own Patr0nus appeared, a magnificent wolf shimmering in silver-blue light.
Mattheo cast the spell in the meantime, and to your surprise, it was a wolf too - identical in size and just as powerful.
And then, something even more unexpected happened.
The wolves looked at each other and then... they bonded.
Your wolf padded towards his, their noses brushed together. It was as if they had always known each other, as if they were two halves of the same whole. The sight sent a shiver down your spine.
How was that possible?
You turned to Mattheo, expecting his usual smirk. But for once, he was silent. His eyes were fixed on the glowing creatures before him, playing with each other.
"Wow... That was unexpected," he murmured. His voice wasn't as casual as he wanted it to be. You could hear it - the unspoken awe, the significance he was trying to hide. He was mesmerised.
You tilted your head. "You alright?"
Mattheo blinked, then shook his head. "Yeah, of course. Just..." He glanced at the wolves, now moving in perfect unison, then back at you. His smirk faltered, his gaze changing to something softer.
Before you could speak, he stepped forward, closing the space between you. His arms wrapped around you, pulling you impossibly close.
He leaned in, his lips brushing the shell of your ear. "You're mine, you know that?" He nuzzled his nose against your neck.
Your breath caught as you leaned against him. Your fingers gripped his shirt to anchor you.
"Fate is a strange thing..." He said.
Fate. You shook your head. There was no other way to explain what you were experiencing.
And as your Patr0nuses continued to dance together in the night, you knew—so did he.
You had always belonged to each other.
