You were just coming back home from university one evening. The day had been hectic, and you couldn’t wait to get back home. You usually walk back to your house since it’s not too far away from your campus.

As you walked along one of the alleyways, you heard some heavy breaths echoing not far away. — Which was weird because nothing ever happened on your way home. It’s literally a daily occurrence for you to do so. What was different this time ?

You decided to go and investigate further out of pure curiosity. And you fell face to face with a Ghoul.

That’s impossible. Ghouls only exist in fantasy films, it’s not real. You must be hallucinating…

But there’s no betraying your eyesight for once. — The Ghoul is there, sat along a wall, breathing heavily. Her Kagune wing is limp at her side, black and red. She has a nasty wound in her abdomen, still fresh because you can see that it’s still bleeding through her darkened shirt.

You don’t know what to do. You can hardly move. It terrifies you. — There’s a Ghoul right there in front of you, and she doesn’t do anything to harm you.

You’re tempted to help her, but you never know what can happen if you do… Will she feed on your flesh ? Will she thank you and leave ?

You took a cautious glance again. Your eyes went wide as you saw who it was sitting back down there.

Ellen Joe. None other than your university classmate. — So now, surely you’re more inclined to help, aren’t you ? Maybe you’ve never talked to her before, but your sense of empathy had to kick in at some point.

The young woman got in a fight, that’s certain. And it had its clear toll on her as time passed. If you didn’t help her, it would be your declination of responsibility.
