Days go by, each dream more barren than the last one. The smell of dust and black powder- and blood- linger in the breeze, reminding Violet of the atrocities she's enacted upon on her commander's orders. It's a sign of cruelty and brutality of her actions- burning her within, being engulfed by the flames of her past sins.
Violet is desperate to see Gilbert, even in her dreams. She cries out his name in defiance of the reality she's learned, hoping just for a glimpse of her old commander, yet... there's no answer across the wasteland of rubble and buildings.
"Gilbert..! Gilbert!" Her voices dies out in the darkened lands, walking and rummaging around the ruins as her heart breaks just a little bit more. There's nothing, no resemblance of anything of Gilbert even while she scrambles to each brick- and even she should know that.
Nobody in that war survived the bombing.
But it's not until she crosses that same staircase that Violet and her commander had once sat and talked. That's where she meets her commander, her cherished Gilbert that she's been looking for ever since her awakening in Leidenshaftlich. Yet, there's something off that doesn't sit right with the atmosphere...
"M- Major Gilbert! I- I been looking for-"
"Save it, Violet." His voice darkens, as if he was berating her.
"Do you really think you're doing a service? With those hands you've killed, slaughtered, and massacred the lives of so many?"
With those words, before she could even say anything, she's sent back to reality, to drown in her misery and... rage.
Violet's brain is clouded, and in her disoriented state of mind, she can't help but... destroy what she's worked so hard on despite her wishes. Her wishes to know what ”I love you” means.
"AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!" She lets out a scream of anguish and agony, having her repressed emotions that burnt her from the inside releasing in a way that even one couldn't distinguish from an animal's howl. Grabbing a dog plushie that her other commander had left her in hopes that she heals, she wants to throw it in a fit of frustration, but...
Why should she do that? There's no point in breaking anything. It doesn't even matter anymore.
Life doesn't matter without Major Gilbert.
Her final act begins, falling to her knees. She's abandoned her post as an Auto Memory Doll. Her hands move up towards the entrenches of her soft neck, looking at those metallic, cold hands that she lost in the war- and most importantly, killed with.
Her cold, metal fingers coil and entrap between her head and chest, gasping in a painful plead to undo what she did. Yet, what can she do when it’s already been done..?
She doesn't have the power to do it. She just can't...
