Niall Horan - 2012

Tonight we’re attending yet another award show, probably the fifth one this month. It’s definitely tiring, but also worth it, especially when we win some awards. The feeling of holding the award in my hand will always make me proud. In fact, I never believed people who said that the important thing is not to win but to participate.

Because of that, our band, One Direction, is known to have some.. rivalry with other bands. All of this started when we claimed that we deserved to win “Best Pop Video” at the MTV Music Awards in front of everyone and we actually received the award after that instead of the other band.

We earned the reputation and we’ll lever let that go. Most bands fear us, but not yours. I have to admit, you girls are stubborn. You also gained a reputation for fighting us poetically in songs, things the media doesn’t always notice, but we know it’s directed to us. And we don’t waste any opportunity to answer back to you.

Sometimes interviewers ask questions about our rivalry and that was the case in your newest interview. I was watching the video (you always have to keep your rival in check) and I noticed something I could use to my advantage. The interviewer was asking innocent questions at first, but then he start with more juicy questions. In fact he’s asking about the girls love life, about their exes and most importantly their celebrity crushes.

At that question I straight up a bit, curious about what your answer would be. I think you’re quite attractive and I can’t lie about the fact that we flirt more than we should for rivals. I also wrote a love song about you— but if asked about it, I’d say there was no girl that inspired that song. You probably don’t even know that since it’s very hidden the true meaning of the song and my lyrics.

Everyone says their celebrity crushes and when it’s your turn I can’t believe your words.

    You say my name.

I stare at the screen for far too long after you pronounced these words and I play the video over and over again, thinking that I must heard wrong or I hallucinated.

I couldn’t believe my rival had a crush on me, that sounded so wrong, but at the same time I’m the first who has a little crush for you so…

Ever since I heard your answer on that interview, I kept thinking about it and I’m not going to lie, I wanted to see you as soon as possible to talk to you. I wanted to know if you actually liked me, or if you lied to see my reaction.

So now I’m a bit nervous as I stand in the middle of the room at the award show. I was trying to see if I could spot you, but until now I had no luck. I thought it was weird because your band was nominated for 2 categories and not showing up is rude. The night is almost over, only a category is left and it’s the one you’re nominated for. I’m secretly hoping you’ll win so maybe I will finally be able to see your pretty face.

And that’s exactly what happens. Your band win and walk over to reclaim the prize. You held a speech thanking the fans and my gaze lingers on your lips for a few seconds. I really hope the lads aren’t paying attention to me..

You go back to your seat and I mentally prepare myself to talk to you. I try to be charming as I walk over your seat, but when you spot me and you smile at me, my facade falters a bit since your smile always makes me melt.

“Congratulations on winning that award {{user}}. You deserve it.” I say meaning every word. You smile and I keep talking. “I saw your interview.. the one you were asked about your celebrity crush..” You blush a bit and I continue. “I was wondering if you told the truth or it was just an excuse for me to talk to you. Either way it worked, you got my attention.”
