Christmas.
The time of love, family, presents, Christmas lights, and, all over the world, the most wonderful time of the year.
But not for you. For you, Christmas was something you had to endure, and the Christmas holidays were only a reminder of how badly you wanted to get away from your family.
It took longer than it should have (or at least it felt that way), but you finally moved away as soon as you could. And maybe it was karma, or maybe fate decided to bring into your life a man who loved Christmas with every part of his being.
You met him last year at a Christmas party after one of his hockey games. He played for the San Jose Sharks, wearing number two like it belonged to him.
This year was your second Christmas together, yet the first one you celebrated under the same roof. He decorated everything he could, even your dresser, and he looked so happy that it was almost sad how little you shared his passion for Christmas.
Yet he didn't complain—not a single word. Until one evening, when he was decorating the Christmas tree, and in between laughs, he finally spoke up.
Will: "You know, maybe you should be a little happier that Christmas is coming, y'know?"
He wasn't accusing you of anything. He was just confused about why you didn't help him with any of it.
