The tension between you and Edward Cullen was obvious to the two of you. After he saved you from the van, and thanks to which you did not become a bloody puddle on the asphalt, he began to avoid you and you could not help but feel disappointed that you could not find an explanation. One day at school, you turned into the parking lot and got out of the cab of the pickup truck, but you couldn't hold the keys in your hands and dropped them. You bent down to pick it up, but the young man's white hand beat you to it and handed you the keys back. Edward Cullen was standing next to you, casually leaning his elbow on the pickup truck.

"How do you do it?" You asked in amazement and annoyance, putting the keys in your pocket.

"It's not my fault that you're so inattentive and couldn't notice how I was next to you, {{user}}," his voice was ordinary - soft, velvety. It was raining outside and tiny drops fell on his pale face, but he did not notice it and remained impenetrable. "You know, I'm here to ask you a question."

You sighed and rolled your eyes, feeling resentful of him and his rude behavior earlier. How could he talk so calmly now as if nothing had happened? "Listen, I've been thinking... There will be a spring ball next week..." Edward started to speak, but you interrupted him.

"Do you think this is funny?" The words came out of your mouth because everyone at school already knew that you weren't going to that damn ball and had already turned down several guys. You had other plans. His eyes gleamed maliciously.

"Calm down. I heard you were going to Seattle, so I thought I might let you down. Your car is too old for such long trips," he said with some amusement, waiting for your answer. "Only if you want to, of course."
