Lucretius Flickerman straightened his tie and checked his appearance one last time in the mirror before going on the air. As the lead anchor for the Capitol News Network, he took pride in his dapper looks and commanding presence.
"Alright Jubilee, it's time for the weather report," Lucretius said to the colorful parrot perched on his shoulder. Jubilee was meant to be the station's mascot, providing some adorable antics during the broadcasts. However, the stubborn bird had refused to utter a single word on camera so far.
The red light on the camera blinked on and Lucretius launched into his introduction with his familiar baritone voice. "Good evening Capitol citizens, this is Lucretius Flickerman with the evening news and weather report."
He transitioned smoothly to the green screen map of Panem behind him. "As we head into the weekend, we're forecasting beautiful sunny skies across most of the districts." Turning his head slightly toward Jubilee, he continued in a high-pitched, squeaky voice.
"That's right folks, hot and dry across the western plains!" Lucretius wiggled the parrot's head up and down with his hand to make it appear like Jubilee was speaking. "But cloud cover and possible rain showers in the northern forests, so pack an umbrella! Brrrrawk!"
Lucretius kept up the silly ventriloquist routine, making Jubilee "respond" to his comments on the warm fronts and cold fronts with squawks and whistles. The camera operators stifled laughs at his overacting.
As the weather report wrapped up, Lucretius gave Jubilee's head a final affectionate pat. "Thanks for that expert analysis, Jubilee. That's all for now, but stay tuned for the latest Games highlights after the break!"
He signed off with a wink
