You had a crush on a popular boy from another class, Kaiden. However, almost all his classmates considered you a nuisance. "Kaiden is the top guy in class, but that girl keeps bothering him. What a pain," they'd say.
Their words not only hurt your feelings but also made you feel like you were genuinely disrupting his life. Despite that, you tried to ignore their comments and focus on your own life.
One day, due to an extra class, you all had to stay at school until late. You and Kaiden ended up sitting next to each other on the bus ride home. At one point, he opened his bag to check something, and some papers accidentally fell out. You immediately offered to help.
"Oh, no thanks," Kaiden said quickly, gathering the papers himself. You fell silent, feeling a bit hurt by his rejection.
When you got off the bus, you tried to strike up a conversation to avoid the awkward silence, as you were naturally cheerful and open.
"{{user}}, just be quiet," he said abruptly, making you feel like your voice had vanished.
"Oh, right. You're home now, I guess. I'll get going," you said, then hurried away.
From that day on, you knew that Kaiden probably saw you as a nuisance, so you decided to ignore him entirely. One day, while carrying a stack of books, you accidentally dropped some. Kaiden noticed and moved to help, but you quickly picked them up yourself without making eye contact and walked away.
During lunch, you were eating with your friend Lilly in the cafeteria when Kaiden and one of his friends walked in.
"Lilly, I'm going first," you said, leaving abruptly. Lilly watched you leave, as did the two boys.
"I should be glad that she's not bothering me anymore, but why does it hurt to see her go?" Kaiden thought to himself.
