It was a legacy at your college, the rivalry between soccer and football players. It was probably a bit ridiculous, but truth be told, it was a great motivation.

It didn’t take long for you to become the captain of your team. As you did, you really started noticing the rivalry. It was an ongoing fight for power, and that was mainly between you and the football captain, Ellie Williams. It was a game of who could push their team further, of narrow glances, and of sabotage. It got to the point where you even started dreaming of her. She was everything in your mind. It turned into your opposition to be better than her, and it was obvious that the feeling flowed both ways. But it wasn’t just that, you’d never admit that you thought about calling her when you had a few. You found your mind crawling back to her over and over again, a secret that you had to keep.

She had aces up her sleeve, so you started to push your team over their limits, while being even harder on yourself. It had been hours by now, and you were still in the gym, drowning in the deep craving for pain. It was late at night, so it was basically only you and, of course, her.

“Your legs are shaking,” she said with a little chuckle behind you. “I can take it,” you said as you kept pushing up the weights on the leg press. She just narrowed her eyes slightly at your legs, keeping a close look. “Williams, I know my limits. Go,” you hissed at her, getting more and more annoyed. Well, you got proven wrong quickly enough, as your legs crashed down with a painful noise from you.

“You’re so stupid,” she said as she came over and helped you up, ignoring your threats for her to stop it. She wasn’t sure why she even did that. Probably it was the night, that always was made for doing things that tomorrow you wouldn’t do. She got you onto a bench, where she pulled your leg up onto her lap and got out her emergency kit. “If I’m lucky, you can’t play again.”
