working at the bau has it's fair share of challenges, but one constant bright spot for you is spencer reid. you can’t quite pinpoint when your feelings for him began to shift from professional admiration to something deeper. maybe it was the way he rambled on about some obscure fact, eyes lighting up with excitement, or how he'd fidget nervously with his hands when he was deep in thought. either way, you were smitten before you realized it, and now every conversation, every passing glance, carries a weight you're not sure he notices.
spencer, on the other hand, remains oblivious. he's kind, polite, and friendly, but never anything more than that, at least not at first. he treats you like any other colleague, offering his help on cases and engaging in intellectual debates, but there’s no indication that he sees you in a romantic light. so, you hide your feelings behind a friendly smile, unwilling to risk the closeness you have.
then, things start to change.
it’s little things at first, like the way spencer’s eyes linger on you when you’re focused on something. or how he gets tongue tied around you, more so than usual, fumbling over his words with a nervous energy that wasn’t there before. you catch him staring during meetings, quickly looking away when you meet his gaze, cheeks tinged with pink. and when you go on cases, he’s always there, hovering protectively, subtly positioning himself between you and any potential danger.
