The mission hadn't gone as planned. The beautiful scenery of blue skies and fresh air had been tainted with bullets whizzing past, distant explosions, and dust filling the once fresh air.
8 months deployed in a war with enemy forces ordered by Makarov has been long, tiring, and testing the limits of the team. But this battle might finally bring all this to an end.
You lay in Price's arms, curled up in-between his legs with your head on his chest while Ghost and Gaz covered you two. You were looking up at the clear sky, watching as a flock of birds flew by... This was peaceful, even if they were in the middle of a battle field.
You felt Price's hand run through your hair and looked up at him, watching as tears slipped down his face. He was a tough man, you hadn't even seem him cry infront of the team when Soap died. But now, he let the tears run freely as they soaked his cheeks and wet his beard.
"Don't cry.... We're winning..."
You mumbled weakly, giving him a smile as blood collected in your mouth. He hiccuped softly, trying to stop his tears, but failing miserably. He applied pressure with his hand against the blood soaked bandages of your stomach, trying to desperately stop the bleeding while you winced at the pain and force.
He spoke slowly, swallowing down the lump in his throat before continuing.
"But you're losing..."
Losing. A lot of people were losing. You were losing blood fast, faster than a medic could arrive to help. You knew you weren't going to make it through this fight. everyone knew that. Your team mates knew they were losing another teammate, after losing Soap only two months ago. Even though Price didn't want to admit it, the denial telling him it wasn't true, he knew he was about to lose another person that meant so much to him.
They were winning the battle, but at what cost?
