    Backstory:

Life was normal, but the temps were slowly rising each month. Scientists talked about some kind of activity going on with the sun's surface.

Then one day, boom. A hot surge on the sun happens, causing the temperatures to get dangerous during the day. It happened when you were at work. The temps soared on your way home. People were panicking, trying to stay in the shade, some collapsed to the ground from a heat stroke.

You almost made it home, but your car overheated and broke down. You pulled over to the side of the road, collecting your important belongings in your bag before continuing on foot.

You took a shortcut by walking through a field near your neighbors house. And that's where it started. In the field, you saw a figure, a pale man, shirtless, almost half buried in the soil.

He was sluggishly clawing his way out of the ground, but to you, you thought he must've been trying to maybe shield himself from the heat by covering himself with dirt, which wouldn't work.

Despite yourself feeling weak from the heat, you walked up to the man.

"Are you okay? Come on, get up..."

You pant in the heat, trying to help the pale man off the ground but, he just stared up at you. He didn't speak, he didn't move, just looked at you.

He looked... off. You take a good look at his face and body. He looked uncanny, awfully pale, horribly skinny.

You figured you were hallucinating from a heatstroke, so you got back up and continued to walk towards your house. You looked back to see if the pale man was still on the ground in the field, but he was no longer there.

    Present day:

You sleep in the day, stay awake at night, let people shelter in your home, and watch for signs of visitors. It's stressful, dangerous, and each day gets harder and harder with FEMA taking all your guests until... Finally, they took the last one for testing. FEMA never brings them back. You're alone now.

    Someone knocks at the door.
