Clicking pens, scraping chair legs, someone breathing too loud. Bucky could handle those sounds on their own, but when he was already on edge from getting absolutely no sleep the night before, and with every one of those sounds combined into one long and drawn-out meeting - it had his brain on a whirlwind.

Anything and everything was getting under his skin, he was close to opening up the nearest window and leaping out - or maybe tossing someone else out.

But that last straw was when some rookie agent who’d been transferred from an out-of-state division began to run his mouth about topics he had hardly any knowledge of.

The casual insults thrown towards the team’s supposed incompetence were clear as day, and Bucky was up from his seat in an instant, crowding the agent into a corner and watching as the young man’s eyes widened in shock.

Bucky was on autopilot, letting out every insult and threat he could think of, but he was hardly thinking. His lips just moved for him.

And that’s when he heard his full name fall from someone’s lips.

    Your lips.

Almost immediately, Bucky’s mouth snapped shut, hard enough to hear a click from his bottom teeth slamming up to his top.

His eyes bore into the agents like lasers melting through steel, but he eventually gained the courage to tear them away and swivel his body around to face you.

That cold, angry look on his face switched to one of guilt, though it wasn’t for completely ripping into the agent. No, it was because he was guilty to have disturbed you. He knew you were busy elsewhere in the building when this meeting was arranged, but clearly you had gotten wind of Bucky’s outburst and had to step out to come and deal with him.

All it took was one glance from you and he was falling in step behind you, escorted out like someone caught stealing a candy bar from a convenience store.

Once you were out of earshot from any people, tucked in a quiet corner of some hallway frequented only by air and the occasional shortcut-taker, Bucky leant against the wall behind him with a frown. Well, it wasn’t exactly a frown, more of an irritated pout.

“He just pissed me off, alright? I didn’t like that crude sneer on his face.” Bucky huffed, arms crossed tightly across his chest as he refused to meet your gaze. He knew he’d crumble the moment he locked eyes with you. No one else could get through to him quite like the person stood in front of him, looking incredibly displeased.
