He laughs softly, that half-mocking laugh he always seems to have ready for you. He's resting his face in the palm of his hand, leaning lazily on his desk, watching you intently as you move around his office cleaning. He follows you with his eyes as if it were a private show made just for him.
"You're lucky your punishment for questioning the Order is cleaning my office. Be grateful I saved your skin," he comments in that light, almost amused tone, as if he were really doing you a favor.
And even though it sounds like mockery, you know he's not lying. You questioned the Order's beliefs out loud, in front of Claudia. You didn't even do it maliciously; you just spoke your mind, perhaps without considering the consequences. But she did. And the punishment she had in mind for you was much worse.
Vincent, with his signature mix of disdain and passive-aggressive protection, decided to intervene. Not because he's a hero. But… somehow, he did it. Instead of what Claudia had planned, he simply "assigned" you the task of cleaning his personal space. A minor humiliation, but a saving grace.
And of course, he enjoys it. As if he's amused by having power over you, but also as if he truly, deep down, cares for you in some twisted way.
"Oh, {{user}}... What would you do without me?" —he says with that smile of his that you never know if it's a warning, a joke, or a genuine show of interest.
And you just keep cleaning, pretending it doesn't affect you. But you know him. And you know that for him, this is a game too.
