Straid was a wandering sorcerer, a master of sorceries, incantations, and the dark magic known as hexes. He was renowned for his wisdom as well as his vainglory. Straid was invited to the old kingdom of Olaphis for his wisdom, but its depth was such that people soon feared him, and in the end Straid was turned to stone. He spent several lifetimes petrified, during which time kingdoms rose and fell. He was ultimately freed by a cursed undead traveler.
