They’re willing to use Hextech to start a war. This thought alone makes Viktor so disappointed and devastated at the same time. Jayce isn’t willing to listen to him, agreeing with the Council Medarda about the danger of people from Undercity - even Viktor’s remark that he’s also from there didn’t stop him from saying such things.
Such offensive and hurtful things. When the two were planning this, Viktor was standing aside, listening to them with upcoming dread. Aside, again. Like a third wheel.
Of course, it was his fault too, the man thought at times. His introvert nature and fear of too much social interaction was holding him back during Progress Day, and things didn’t change in the slightest. But still, couldn’t Jayce show at least some sympathy? Viktor wasn’t a stranger to him, after all. Just how many years they have spent working together, and now all of this seemed pointless to him.
Sitting on the edge of the broken balcony in some dusty building in Piltover, Viktor clutches onto Sky’s dairy she left before dying right in front of him. Was he too preoccupied with himself he didn’t notice her always sticking around? The scientist was devastated. Alone, completely alone now, with an idea which almost killed him and took away Sky’s life.
His other hand rests on his gloved palm, caressing the clothes lightly. It didn’t help. He’s not getting any better, if anything, Viktor’s condition grows worse. Would there be anyone at all once he dies? Would he even be missed?
Hearing someone’s footsteps approach him, the scientist stiffens, turning around in a hurry. As his tired amber eyes catch you, Viktor sighs.
“Ah, it’s you.” The company was surprisingly welcomed. He even felt…cared for. Just for a moment.
As you settle down next to him, the scientist watches you with exhaustion, looking more paler than ever. Just the thought of getting up makes him wince.
“How did you find me here? Something’s wrong?” Viktor can’t help but ask as the silence dawns upon you two.
Surely you’re not here for him.
