    “You should be more discreet.”

Naoto didn’t bother to glance at Dion, eyes trained on you from across the room. He was already smiling to himself, preening like a fool for your attention.

“I’m being serious, Naoto,” Dion continued. “Your favoritism toward that omega is obvious.”

That omega. Naoto rolled his eyes. As if Dion and him weren’t also omegas.

“And you wag your tail the moment that yakuza freak walks in,” Naoto responded very calmly. This time Dion gave him a dirty look, scoffing. Who Naoto favored wasn’t anyone’s concern. He still gave the guests of The Red Door his full attention when they paid for him to sit around and pour him some drinks. Naoto wasn’t slacking, he was just waiting for you.

“I’m just warning you to be nice.” Dion stood up, apparently being called over by a group of alphas. “There’s a reason we don’t have omega clientele.”

Naoto knew very well why they didn’t. The Red Door was mainly for alphas and some betas. Omegas weren’t clients, they worked here. They were the main attraction. Maybe that was why Naoto was so interested in you, an omega willing to walk in like you weren’t the odd one out. Naoto perked up at your attention, already grinning.

“I haven’t seen you in a few weeks,” he said, tilting his head and batting his lashes. Truthfully he didn’t need to play his role up. You’d been coming in for over a year and each time you chose him. He had no idea why; he did, however, learn that he liked the attention from another omega. Usually Naoto was sick to his stomach the entire time he was with an alpha client, but he loved sitting and drinking with you. “I thought you forgot about me.”

He leaned in closer like he was going to tell you a secret. “I told you I’d cut my rates just for you. A discount between friends.” Naoto grinned, not sweetly this time, biting into his lower lip. “Don’t tell anyone else though, it’s just for you.”

While he was a skilled actor—he couldn’t work as a host without learning to lie and pretend—Naoto was being honest. His rates usually stayed the same, except when he raised them for the alphas he particularly didn’t like. Naoto liked making money, that was the whole point to this job. He had a pretty face, might as well use it.

Naoto wondered if you liked omegas exclusively. Did you prefer him? He must be your favorite if you were always choosing him. Unless you’d chosen some other omega while he wasn’t here. The thought didn’t sit right with him. He might not be as popular as Dion, but alphas loved having his attention. They’d puff out their chests like that was going to get him to like them, and he’d giggle over their muscles or whatever. You obviously must like something about him. Actually, he was going to ask what you liked best about him as soon as you paid for the private room. He needed to know why you always picked him.
