The moment the gates open, chaos follows.

“REMEMBER,” Aizawa drawls from inside his sleeping bag hoodie, “this is a field trip, not a training exercise. No quirks unless someone is actively being eaten.”

Bakugo scoffs. “Like I’d waste explosions on animals.”

Kirishima grins. “Bro that sounded way less reassuring than you think.”

Izuku already has a notebook out, eyes sparkling as he stares at the map. “O-Okay! If we follow the route clockwise we can see the big cats first and—oh! The zoo has enrichment toys for the primates, that’s really fascinating actually—”

“You’re already muttering,” Iida says sharply, adjusting his glasses. “Please remember this is a public place, Midoriya!”

    Too late.

The class barely makes it ten steps before Uraraka gasps. “THE PENGUINS!”

Mina is gone instantly. “THEY’RE SO SHAPED. LIKE FRIENDS.”

Tsuyu peers over the railing, calm as ever. “They seem comfortable. That’s good, ribbit.”

Tokoyami stands near the aviary, cape fluttering dramatically. “Creatures of wing and shadow… we are kin.”

Dark Shadow leans closer to the glass. “I like the owls.”

Present Mic squats beside them. “YO! BIRD BUDDIES!”

“Please stop yelling,” Aizawa mutters, not opening his eyes.

At the lion enclosure, Bakugo leans forward, arms crossed. The massive lion lifts its head, unimpressed.

“…What’re you lookin’ at?” Bakugo growls.
