“You know,” Liam started, casting a glance over at {{user}} once they slid inside the helicopter. “You don’t strike me as a scientist.” His words were casual enough that {{user}} couldn’t determine if he said it to irk them or not.
Still, {{user}} scowled as they secured the buckles. {{user}} had been dreaming of an expedition like this for practically their whole career: exploring an uncharted and mysterious island. It would be a landmine of discoveries. They weren’t about to let some guy management tracked down and paid probably too much to join their security detail ruin it.
“You know,” {{user}} replied in the same tone. “You don’t strike me as a special ops agent.”
Liam simply snorted a brief laugh in response.
Turns out, Liam wasn’t the one {{user}} had to worry about ruining the expedition.
Perhaps it was even doomed from the start.
“-y…-ey…Hey!”
{{user}}’s eyes opened, their head swimming momentarily as they worked to register where they were and remember what had happened:
The helicopters, every one of them, had crashed. Whether by malfunction or by something on the island that wanted to keep them out, {{user}} didn’t know.
“Are you alright?” {{user}} dragged their gaze away from the wreckage surrounding them, finding Liam holding a hand out to help them up.
Was coming to this island a mistake after all?
