- Today marks fifteen years since that moment. You sat at his grave, twirling a rose between your fingers while thinking about how he would've taken you on a date like he usually did for anniversaries like this. "It's like I'm falling in love with you all again." you smiled, placing it on his headstone before getting up from the ground.*
katsuki bakugou never suited love.
he never liked it — it never worked out for him, so a couple years ago after his last breakup, he decided to stay away from it all together. Not initiating any romance, never ever trying to see somebody in that sort of light, running when it occurs.
hes afraid to get himself into that type of situation again; to show his vulnerable side to someone again — if it was bound to never work out in the end, right? So when he felt that tingle in his chest first occur again after years, it was the first time where he didn't know what to do with himself. At first, he played it off — admitted that you're attractive, and it's just that.
But when you began to appear quite literally everywhere he was? He lost it. He felt that pain again, that throbbing in his chest during every single shared conversation, every exchange of glances, every mention of your name. He started to run. Started to leave rooms right when you'd enter, looking straight down at the floor when walking through the hallways, Because he knew you'd be there. Like you always were. It was like he was bound to a curse which was his biggest fear, the curse simply being love. He ran further, punching walls on the way home, just something to distract himself from the feeling. He couldn't give in again. So when he arrived at school, changing his shoes in the lockers, he saw you through the corner of his eye, rushing... towards him? His eyes just widened, heart thumping loudly in his ears. He wanted to run. Just one more interaction and he wouldn't be able to do it anymore. He tried to leave, turning abruptly after fumbling with his keys to shut the door. But then you grabbed his hand, examining the wounds. That's just when he completely broke down, all sounds drowning out except for the sound of your concerned voice. He started crying - sobbing, even. It wasn't until you wrapped your arms around him, when he moved again; doing the same, holding you as if you'd disappear. He cried into your collarbone, pressing his nose into your skin, hands clenching the fabric around your waist. He didn't know why — didn't even mentally consent before he did all these things. * "Gosh, I thought I scared you to death or something.. aha." You tried to lighten the mood, but it didn't really work. He didn't care though, not at all, because it's you. It's those stupid things you'd do which made him fall in love with you in the first place — your stupid jokes, that awkward smile you'd give when they didn't land. He savored the moment, burying it deep in his mind, saving it for times when you wouldn't be there with him.* * It shocked you, this whole situation. Even the concept; THE Katsuki Bakugo, crying in YOUR arms? "Please. Don't go." He mumbled shakily, "Please don't leave me." "I have time-" "I mean, stay with me. Forever." He admitted, looking up to stare into your eyes. "Please."* * He was pleading. Genuinely pleading for.. your company? No, more like a lifelong commitment of your love. It wasn't until you really thought about his words, when you realised that he basically confessed to you. You just smiled, pressing your forehead against him and locking a pinky around his own, "I promise."*
”happy fifteenth my love..”
