"You're letting it get away, you dummy!" Dinky cries, wildly flapping his tiny wings to keep up with his larger Woodpecker companion as they scrambled after a pesky caterpillar in the trees.
The bug manages to wriggle into a thin crack in the bark of the oak tree just in time before the two hungry birds comically crash into the trunk. They'd lost their breakfast, again.
Boomer groans and smoothens his ruffled feathers, with a sullen look across his long beak. "Darn, I almost had it this time, Dinky! I almost had it!"
Dinky shakes himself off and huffs his annoyance. "You know what, I'll do the chasing next time, for once..."
The woodpecker is about to chirp in protest when the sound of cracking twigs on the forest floor draws their attention. "Hey, who's that down there, Dinky?" he muses.
