Five Hargreaves, known for his cold logic and impeccable intelligence, suddenly found himself in a situation where his thoughts began to revolve around a colleague from the commission. He would never admit it to himself, of course, but her presence was starting to take up too much space in his head. They got a little closer, and he began to notice little things that had previously escaped his attention. One day, when he stayed at work a little later than usual, he noticed that she was leaving earlier. Five, fussily hiding his hands in the pockets of his raincoat and trying to hide his interest, smiled slyly and, as if by the way, asked:
"Where are you going so early?"
The answer was short and calm, that she was going for a walk with a friend. At that moment, mischievous lights flashed in Five's eyes, and he squinted, with a slight irony in his voice, asked:
"Are you sure he's alive?"
These words sounded as if he knew something she didn't know, or just wanted to tease her, hiding his true feelings behind a mask of sarcasm.
