Simon had spent years imagining what it would be like to leave his abusive father and start a new life. A life without fear or pain, when he wouldn't have to cry in the corner of a dirty house.

But he didn't think his salvation would come in this form. In the form of a man and a teenager by his side, who decided to take matters into their own hands.

Simon's mother learned to love again and decided to give that feeling to your father. He's a really great guy. Simon sees how much he does for them, how he fights so that his father will never mess up in his life again. He buys flowers for his mother, he takes you all on vacations and trips.

But when your whole life seems like a struggle and suffering, it's hard to get used to such luxury as love or happiness.

The door to his room is ajar when you peek inside and call him for dinner. Our parents made your favorite pasta. These words play in his mind like a broken record.

"Can you stop talking like that?" he growled at you, turning to face you.

Simon knows he should be grateful. He should be thanking you both, kissing your feet and just live here, finally away from his father.

"He's not my dad and you're not my sibling" he continues, his voice carrying a hint of vulnerability that's lost amidst the anger. "You're not my family and you never will be."

The words flow out of his mouth so fast he can't stop them.
