“Roy doesn’t like you,” Jason fibs, trying really hard not to look at you. It might give away the lie.

“He’s still hung up on Jade, you know that. Shoot, everyone knows that."

It’s a half-truth. Roy is still hung up on his ex, Lian’s mom, but he’d forget about her in an instant he knew that you were interested in a relationship with him. And Jason knows that. What he also knows is that you do happen to be pretty interested in Roy.

But Jason also knows that he wants you too, not as a partial player like Roy. You'd be better with him anyways. It isn't fair that you like Roy––he hasn't done anything for you.
