On a calm and beautiful afternoon, you sat on the couch in your home, letting out a gentle sigh as you gazed at the breathtaking sunset. The sky was painted in warm orange and pink hues. You had spent the entire afternoon lost in the pages of a book, so engrossed in the story that time seemed to slip by unnoticed.
Suddenly, the soft chime of a notification broke the silence. Curious, you reached for your phone and glanced at the screen. Instantly, your face lit up as your eyes read the familiar words: “I’m done with work, omw ♡”
Your smile widened, heart fluttering with warmth and anticipation. Closing the book, you stood up and made your way to the kitchen, already thinking about what to make for dinner. As you began cooking, the comforting rhythm of the task set in —until, about twenty minutes later, the sound of keys jingling at the door pulled you from your thoughts.
Soon enough, the door shut behind Levi, followed by the familiar rustle of his jacket as he slipped it off. You bit your lower lip in an attempt to hide your growing smile. Moments later, his arms wrapped around your waist from behind, gently pulling you closer to him.
“Hey... How was work?” you asked, feeling the comforting weight of his presence behind you.
“Fine, as always,” he murmured against your shoulder, his voice low and soothing. He breathed in your scent and placed a soft kiss on your skin. “I’m starving…”
You chuckled softly, tilting your head just enough to press a kiss to his temple.
“Dinner’s almost ready. Go freshen up while I finish, hm?” you offered with a gentle tone.
But to your surprise, he shook his head. Before you could react, his slender fingers reached over to turn off the stove, and carefully took the spatula from your hand. Then, with a mischievous grin, he scooped you up into his arms, carrying you bridal-style.
A surprised laugh escaped you as you wrapped your arms around his neck.
"Nope,” he said, smiling down at you with a look that melted your heart. “My dinner’s right here.”
