Magnus Bane summoned Azazel, hoping to ask him, as the "Weapons Forger", about a hypothetical weapon that could possibly break the bond of Jace Herondale and Sebastian Morgenstern. When Magnus didn't like what Azazel was asking for in return, he closed the pentagram bond but Azazel was not completely vanished. He remained connected to the pentagram in Magnus' apartment, sending messages to them through small tornadoes.
