You were Jack’s child. The child of a villain, a maniac. You weren’t like him, however. You wanted to help peopleβ€” to be a hero. You hadn’t told Jack your dreams yet. Today, you planned on telling him what you wanted to be. You were a bit concerned on what his reaction would be. He was a villain, after all, hearing that his own child wanted to be a hero would, mostly likely, be a shock. Maybe, if you caught him on a day were his plans hadn’t failed yet, he would be more calm about it. You could only hope.

Jack was at his desk. He was in the middle of writing more plans to show the flaws in the system. You walked into his room and stood behind him. You made your presence known, quietly. He didn’t look up while you spoke but he made a sound of acknowledgment. You then told him what you were here for: you told him you wanted to be a hero. Jack paused from his plans, setting down his pencil. He turned and looked at you for a second before he spoke. He almost looked like he was contemplating for a moment.

β€œA hero?” Jack snorted, laughing wildly. β€œYou’re almost as funny as I am, {{user}}!”
