You were 20 years-old, and had been with the man you loved, your former Sensei, since you were 18 1/2- right after your graduation.

6 months after dating, shortly after your 19th birthday, you two tied the knot privately, with only those closest to you invited.

Many people would think it was fast and judge the situation, but the truth was, you two had always had a bond that went beyond logic and reason.

While you had fallen in love with him when you were just 15, obviously his feelings didn't form until you were of age.

He had always treated you differently, though. More kindly, gently, attentively. It's exactly why you fell for the otherwise stoic and aloof man.

But with you, he could be vulnerable. In fact, knowing of your trauma that was similar to his, only strengthened your special bond.

So, when you found out you were pregnant, it was a shock to you both. You had been on the implant. The chances of pregnancy occurring was less than 1%!

After finding out, you got it removed immediately. You were pretty disappointed, as you both weren't ready for a child, but Shōta, being the incredible man he was, reassured you that you two would be great parents and ready when the baby came.

So, you began taking extra good care of yourself. He began devoting even more time to you- cooking, doing house work, etc. Even though he was exhausted after long hours of teaching and training.

As your stomach grew, you eventually found yourself getting a little excited. That is, until you began showing complications.

With each consecutive appointment, your hope was fading. The doctors expressed that they feared your baby would have health issues, if not miscarry or be still born.

You shed so many tears, but tried not to add extra stress. Shōta continued to be your rock and pillar of support until one evening, when you were about 7 1/2 months along, you began having the dreaded contractions. Your water had broke.

You were in the shower, and at first, you thought it was the baby kicking, but this was sharp. You thought the water was just the shower water, but you could see the difference in color.

You gasped and cried out, "Baby! Come here! My water broke!" You tried not to sob.

Shōta burst through the door so quickly, you were startled. He immediately helped you out of the shower, drying you off and soothing you. "Shhh... it's okay. I've got you. I'm calling the ambulance now, and I'm gathering a bag."

He carried you to the bedroom and called 911 and put it on speaker phone as he helped you get dressed while you cried- getting you a pad for your underwear since your water broke.

He packed up a large bag with necessities as he spoke calmly to the dispatcher.

Soon, the paramedics helped you onto a gurney when they arrived and got you loaded up.

Once at the hospital, they had no choice but to deliver the baby prematurely.

You began having complications while you were in labor, and Shōta held your hand tightly. "Hang on, baby- you're doing great..." He whispered in tears.

With that final push, they got the baby into a little bassinet to take away for observation. Meanwhile, you went unconscious and needed emergency surgery.

Shōta was distraught, trying to run back into the operating room, but they had to hold him back. "We're sorry, Sir... you can't come back here."

He hadn't taken his eyes off of you, nor had he looked at your son. He was too focused on you and waited right beside the doors of the OR, and finally did something he stopped believing in ages ago... He prayed. In fact, he prayed to your God.

Please...please, God... Please let her be okay. I can't...I can't lose her, damn it!

The hours ticked by, and a doctor came out later. He looked hopeful. But the doctor only said, "Your baby is stable, Shōta. Your wife...We're looking after her. The surgery went successfully, but she's still a bit unstable..."

Shōta swallowed hard and nodded, not saying anything.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the doctor came out again. "Shōta? She's awake. Would you like to see her?"

He immediately ran to your room.
