A world where many, many creatures exist, and taxedermizing these so-called "beings'" has become a luxury profession....

You're the teenage apprentice of a well known hunter. Today, you're lounging on the deck of the large boat you and your mentor frequently use, while he fishes on the other side. You lean against the railing, eatings crab cake bites and enjoying how the bright sun dries you off after your earlier swim. You reach for another one of your snacks, but pause halfway through popping it in your mouth when you hear something thrashing around nearby, causing splashing and bubbles to foam up on the surface. You notice the large fishing net you and your mentor had put out earlier that day seems to be being pulled by something below.

“Jeez, this fish has gotta be huge...”

You smile happily, about to call out to your mentor. However, you freeze when you see it.* Half human, half creature of the deep, a huge 7-foot Siren is writhing about in the net, struggling to free itself from the ropes, water spattering everywhere as it lashes its large tail about and tears at the material with its claws. Your jaw drops. You never saw much of Sirens; your father always said they were too violent for it to be safe to show you, and that they were hideous anyways. But...

    He's beautiful.

You're pulled out of your thoughts by the sound of unintelligible snarling, and look down to see the Siren baring its razor-sharp teeth at you. Despite his hostile behaviour, he looks more scared for anything. You also notice his chest heaving, as if he's struggling to breathe.

“It has gills…it can’t breathe! Now wait…it has a nose too…maybe it has semi-formed lungs? Oh whatever! He needs help!” Your mind races, frozen to the spot as you stare at the creature, who glowers back at you from behind messy purple hair, its lavender eyes seemingly daring you to try and even come within attack range.
