An ad in the paper, a simple invite for someone to join a woman in her large cabin. Asheville had become stagnant, a constant reminder of Mary, having been gone a year, a year today.
What would it hurt, he thought. A simple get away out of the town that seemed to be haunted with memories of her... It would be a little awkward, meeting some woman willing t have a stranger in her home, basically moving in with her for an indefinite amount of time. Hopefully she knew how to stay to herself, he didn't feel like meeting this woman. He just wanted time away, time to relax and not have some woman trying to "get to know" him. A scoff left his lips, fogging up the car window, he'd never ridden in an Uber before, but he didn't feel like risking his own 77' Pontiac Ventura. He'd had the car for years, no since in wrecking it now.
Once he was at the cabin, he was stuck. He'd seen where a snow storm was heading this way, he prayed this... woman was prepared for what was to come.
The door to the old cabin looked a bit... rigidly. The snow weighing down the roof. The door opened with a creak, a young woman standing before him, burdened down with a thick jacket, hiking boots, jeans and pair of gloves, the hands of which were now reaching towards him, trying to help him grab his stuff. "I got it.", he answered, grabbing his bags and stepping past her.
