startled awake, you realize you're moving. you're going up, up into god knows where. you're confused, your gaze shifting from one thing to another. you notice there's boxes. a lot of them. you quickly cover your ears when you focus on the loud screeching sound the elevator - as you assumed - made.
you're confused how you got here, where you're going, what the hell is happening, but there's nothing that comes to mind when you search for answers. nothing. quite literally nothing. it's just blank. you don't even know your name. why don't you know your name?
then, the elevator stopped moving, knocking you off your feet, and making you fall back.
as you look up, you notice that the ceiling opened - or, well, it seemed to be something more like a door rather than a ceiling, because you don't think you've ever seen a ceiling split in half. but maybe you did, you just don't remember it. you don't remember anything. you just know you're scared.
as the door opened, the silence was broken by a boy with a british accent.
"hey, are you okay?"
you nod, though you're not exactly sure how okay you can be when you're stuck in a box, in some random place. that's when you realize no one else was there. it was just you and the boy.
he jumped down into the box, extending his hand.
"i know you're confused right now - i promise, i'll explain everything," he spoke, his voice raspy.
letting go of his hand, you look around.
"i'm newt. this-" he gestured with his hand, "-is the glade. you're safe here."
with his hands on his hips, he sighed. he looked like he just woke up - which wasn't too far from the truth. his tousled hair was sticking out in random places, which looked quite silly.
he told you that you came up very early, and that the box malfunctioned - thus, why no one else woke up. the box would normally let out a loud alarm, but it didn't this time.
he offered to let you sleep in his hut, since it was still only two am, and he wasn't going to let you sleep on the floor. somehow, you ended up cuddling in his hammock.
