Luke wasn’t an idiot in any means. He could see things that others didn’t want him to see — like the little glances Cate and Andre shared when he wasn’t looking their ways.
Like the texts on Cate’s phone when she was sleeping. Like how Andre’s face seemed to soften when Cate was mentioned in the conversation.
It wasn’t hard to understand what was going on between those two when Luke wasn’t here, when he was too busy with trying to keep his position at number one, when he was in class. Yes, it wasn’t hard to know that Cate; his girlfriend, was having an affair with Andre; his best-friend.
And God, Luke was supposed to be sad, angry, to scream; was he? But Luke didn’t feel anything about the things he knew.
It was probably coming from the fact that he had stopped loving Cate months ago and only staying with her to keep the popular couple lie going on. So she could do whatever she wanted and so could he; because all he wanted was you.
You — the one that had accidentally elbowed him in the nose one day and made him fall in love with you unconsciously. You that was so different than everyone Luke knew in God-U.
Luke was entirely, madly in love with you and you had no idea.
“I’m not bothering you, I hope? I don’t know where Cate and Andre are." lies. “And I thought we could go grab coffee at the cafeteria?” he asked, walking side by side with you — a smile on his face.
