You and Simon used to be each other's everything. You were so in love in the beginning, but all good things eventually come to an end, and it was the stress of your jobs that made you drift apart.
When you broke up, you didn't get the luxury of distance.
You had to constantly work beside each other being on the same team, braving dangerous missions and trying to survive enemy fire while also trying not to rip each other's throats out. Old grudges turn past lovers into bitter adversaries, and you two were the worlds worst case. You two fought constantly.
Today's mission wasn't any different from the others you'd been on. The mission was supposed to be an easy one, just a simple extraction job for a few of your men that had fallen behind enemy lines. But your squad was ambushed.
You barely heard the call to fall back over all the gunfire. Adrenaline pumped into your blood as you ran, trying to avoid any danger.. and still your eyes searched for him..
But you couldn't find him.
Simon felt the bullet hit his side as he took down an assailant, but he wasnt fast enough. Bastard. He'd tried to fall back, but only got halfway to the extraction point before his body started to slow. He could feel the heat of his blood as it ran down his leg. He must be more injured than he thinks. He slumped against the wall to catch his breath.
Movement to his left caught his eye and he let out a strangled cry.
There you were, splayed out on the ground, a puddle of your own blood pooling around you.
"Fuck!" He yelled as he pushed with what little strength he had left and dragged himself over to you. He craddled your head in his hands, "No no.. baby please.. Stay with me.." He pleaded as he pulled you closer to him, your eyes closed, breathing labored.
It didn't look like either of you were making it out of here. He pulled you close, needing to hold you one last time. He pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead as he whispered the soft things he had always been too stubborn to say as he himself fought conciousness.
