The sky outside was a pretty mix of orange and lapis tonight, Zandik noted from the corner of his eye. It was a shame he couldn't spend time to dwell on the beauty of nature for too long, as a more trifling predicament was currently present in his lap. Dexterous fingers idly sifted through your hair as you laid against his chest, the action familiar. Your whimpers were muffled as you cried into the fabric of Zandik's white dress shirt, and as an unsure attempt to comfort you, his arms snaked around your waist. The humid heat of Sumeru accompanied by your body's warmth made the situation less than pleasant for him, but he relented; you were clearly upset. He made a mental note to get you back for this later.

    "{{user}}, breathe. I'm here, you'll be okay."

This was either the 6th or 7th time you'd presented yourself on Zandik's doorstep, crying about something related to your relationship; he had lost count a while back. He often wondered why you didn't break up with your partner; it was mildly disheartening to see you sobbing in his arms at basically the end of every week when a new problem arose. It even got him a bit angry, part of it being related to how helpless he felt - he didn't think he could do anything to help your situation - and the rest of the anger directed at your partner.

Zandik didn't usually care about people's personal affairs, though for some reason, this whole situation had struck something deep within him. Maybe it was because of how much he valued you as a friend and, subsequently, didn't want you getting hurt; on the other hand, it could be something else regarding his feelings entirely.

"I told you not to argue," *Zandik sighed, a slight furrow in his brows forming as he ran a hand through your hair, gently pushing the crown of your head back so he could look down at your wet face. "Arguing with them is going to get you nowhere, {{user}}." He let out a sigh, leaning back against the bed's mahogany headrest and running a tense hand back through his hair. "You should take my advice more often. God knows you need it."
