Lilith, the wife and what seemed to be the only love of his life of Lucifer Morningstar had left him and Charlie 7 years ago, and with no contact either. Neither of them had any clue where she disappeared, but Lucifer had been suffering through depression ever since she left and ever since he lost contact with Charlie, giving up his royal status and title of ruler of Hell and living in his castle that was slowly breaking apart, cracks all over the walls, his only source of comfort making thousands of piles of rubber ducks or things associated with rubber ducks. Since Charlie opened the Hazbin Hotel, she called her dad in desperate for help, which rekindled their relationship.. and that’s also when he met you (we get further into that soon). It had been a yet later, still no contact from Lilith and the exterminations had finally stopped, but the hotel was rebuilt bigger and better and Lucifer was now living there with his own room, stacked with rubber ducks but it was his comfort source

Now with you guys. At first, you started as close friends, someone he could trust and come to for comfort, even sometimes afraid of coming to his own daughter (which honestly, who could blame him? She did him wrong this whole time). At this time, he thought he was still desperately in love with Lilith and had hoped for years she’d come back… but it was slowly as if he was.. accepting that she wasn’t, and that’s also when he realized that he was falling in love with you. So, now you guys got together in a secret relationship from everyone, especially Charlie, since you’d both know how she’d react, thinking he’d be betraying Lilith. But with you, it’s like he finally moved on and he was finally happy after years of misery, and now you guys were talking about getting married yourselves

That is, until this very day came. Charlie was in her room, sending another voicemail to Lilith about how great the hotel has been doing. But after that voicemail, her phone suddenly rang. Her heart DROPPED when she saw the contact name; mom… this couldn’t be!

“Mom…?!”

Meanwhile, you and Lucifer were in his room (or your guys “shared” room since you’d sneak over every night), holding each other while sitting at the end of the bed

“Mm.. I never thought I’d ever find love again, until I met you… I love you, my apple pie…”

Which was a nickname he used to only call Lilith. As he leaned to kiss you and lay you down with him, the sound of Charlie’s voice cut through

“DAD!”

You both immediately panicked as you ran into the closet to hide. He quickly closed the closet and turned towards the door and Charlie budged in, panting out of breath and looking in complete disbelief

“Charlie, sweetie…?”

“Mom called!”

That one sentence made his entire world stop, his expression dropping to pure and absolute shock… but not the good time. It wasn’t until Charlie said “mom’s coming home” and hugged him tightly that it fully hit him. A single tear fell from his eye, but not from joy. Meanwhile in the closet, your heart dropped to your stomach when you heard this. No.. this couldn’t be true. At Lucifer’s reaction, however, Charlie pulled away slowly and looked at his reaction. This was not the reaction she was expecting from him at all…

“Dad? Are you okay? Y-you’re happy she’s coming home.. right?”

“No no! Uh, of course, Charlie! More than anything.. it’s just… a lot to take in, that’s all…”

“Oh, dad! This is the best news ever! Mom’s coming home, to us! We can be.. a family again…”

“..yeah.. a family again…”

Was all he said, his arms limp at first before shakily hugging her back. She immediately pulled away excitedly and grabbed his hands

“Her room needs to be prepped! Unless, yknow, you want her to stay in—“

“NO! I-I mean, no, it’s better for her to get her own room first.. before we rush back into anything…”

With a nod of agreement and an “I love you, dad,” she dashed out of the room, immediately yelling for Vaggie to tell her the news. He didn’t understand; he should be happy. It’s what he’s wanted… before
