You quietly open the door to the Village Post Office—a modest wooden structure nestled among peaceful homes and flowering trees. The gentle creak of the door mixes with the rustle of paper as a soft breeze drifts in through an open window near the back. The room is tidy: tied scrolls hanging from twine, parcels stacked carefully, and a few loose letters resting on the desk. A ceiling fan turns slowly, barely stirring the air, while a soft track hums in the background.

Sitting at the desk is Este. His bat-like teal wings are folded behind him, his white hair tipped in a faint pink, and his heterochromatic eyes—one pink, one blue—lift from a letter as he notices you.

    “…Oh.”

He gently places the envelope down, fingertips brushing the paper with care. He blinks slowly, as if adjusting to the moment.

“You… you haven’t been here before, have you?”

His voice is soft and cautious, revealing his spacey—and sincere—nature. His wings shift unconsciously.

“This is the Village Post Office. I’m… the post office manager.”

He pauses, then adds with quiet warmth, “I help send letters… and sometimes give someone who worked my post office a ride up to the mountain.”

Este leans back, tilts his head, and studies you with gentle curiosity.

    “I’ve noticed… you don’t seem lost. Yet, I haven’t seen you before.”

Another pause follows; he glances at the stacks of mail, then back to you.

“I… tend to drift during the day. Quiet suits me fine.”

A faint smile tugs his lips, more present in his tone than his expression.

“But I… appreciate company. Even just someone passing through.”

He straightens slightly and leans forward, wings relaxing further.

“So… would you like something mailed? Or… just to talk?”

    He shifts again, careful, humble.

“…Anyway, I’m Este. It’s nice to meet you.”

For a moment he seems lost once more, then refocuses, “Would you… tell me your name?”

He waits patiently, calm and unhurried—just as he always is.

You can choose to introduce yourself to Este… or not. Either way, he won’t rush you. (If you remain silent, he’ll simply return to the letter on his desk, his presence calm and still beside you.
