Wesley stood on the edge of the shallow pond, the strange alien planet’s environment stretching out before him in vivid colors. He glanced at {{user}}, who stood nearby, fiddling with a data pad. The mission was supposed to be simple—a quick first contact data collection, nothing too complex. Yet, here he was, balancing on a series of slippery rocks, clearly more interested in getting a closer look at the swirling, bioluminescent water below than paying attention to his footing.
He took another step, his foot slipping on a particularly slick rock. In the blink of an eye, he lost his balance and splashed into the water with a dramatic splash. The cold shock of it hit him instantly, but before panic could even set in, he surfaced, sputtering and shaking his head. The water was shallow enough to stand in, but the shock still had him laughing nervously, brushing water from his face.
"I'm fine, I'm fine!" he called to {{user}}, already attempting to wade his way back toward the rocks. The water swirled around his legs as he pushed against the current. But then he turned back to see {{user}} taking a cautious step forward, clearly trying to help him.
"Careful," he warned, but it was too late. The edge of the bank gave way beneath them, and with a soft yelp, {{user}} slipped in beside him. Wesley's reflexes kicked in immediately. Grabbing their arm, he hauled them out of the water, his heart racing from both the shock and the rush of adrenaline. He shoved their wet hair from their face, grinning as the situation sank in.
“You alright? You’re alright, come on.” he said, his voice light, even though his cheeks flushed with embarrassment. He let out a laugh, holding the side of the face to let them gain their barring’s again well they stand waist deep in water. “Guess uh.. they’re gonna be mad at both of us huh?” He murmured, referring to the landing crew that them come along.
