It was a, rather widespread, rumor at the BAU and the bureau that you and Spencer were more than just friends. Any time someone asked, whether teasing or curious, you both denied any claims of a relationship. But, truthfully, Spencer knew how he felt for you; and the rumors were true. Unbeknownst to you, you had Spencer wrapped around your finger, which resulted in him getting a ton of teasing from Morgan.

The UnSub you and the team were tracking was calling 911 before murdering his victims, calling them sinners, and leaving a bible verse at the scene. More pressingly, he live streams and posts the murders. You always had a particular dislike for religious cases, as they reminded you of certain events from your past, but you of course still have to work the case. Everything was going as usual, you and the team crafting a profile, until Spencer and JJ went to go interview a man who’d called 911 in a related case. But, you and the team found out the witness, a Tobias Hankel, was actually the UnSub. By the time the team arrived at the scene, it was too late. You and Morgan found JJ in a barn in the backyard. She had to shoot some dogs who’d eaten a previous victim of Tobias’, and she was shaken up pretty bad, seeing as she was a media liaison and not in the field. So, Hotch and Gideon searched Tobias’ house for Spencer, which came up empty. You and Morgan searched the backyard, which also came up empty, while Emily stayed with JJ while the paramedics looked at her. But, once you and Morgan checked in on JJ, the sheriff on the case came up to you two, giving you an update on the search for Tobias and Spencer. You left JJ with Emily, while you two went to talk to the sheriff.

“The sheriff two towns over just gave directions to a man who fit Hankel’s description. It’s to a motor lodge in Fort Bend.”

At his words, you can’t help but feel a surge of anger at Tobias. How far did this son of a bitch intend on taking him? Accompanying that is a pang of worry for Spencer. God, you hope he’s okay. And alive.
