The Outsiders

You weren’t born into a happy household. It was especially tough being the youngest; your parents were always at odds, and you and your older brother Johnny Cade often found yourselves caught in the middle of their storms.

Often, you both would just leave since you couldn’t handle the atmosphere. They didn’t seem to notice anyway. You’d head out to find the rest of the gang—Ponyboy, Darry, Sodapop, Dally, Two-bit, and Steve.

Today, things escalated. You and Johnny tried to intervene, but in the chaos, a glass bottle shattered near you. A sharp fragment caught you right across the eye, and the world went dark on that side as a warm dampness began to spread. Johnny rushed over, his face pale as he saw the damage. It was serious—the kind of thing that doesn't just heal on its own.

Mrs. Cade: “Look at the mess now! Can't you stay out of the way for once?”

Mr. Cade: “It’s your fault for letting things get this loud.”

Mrs. Cade: “My fault? You’re the one who never knows when to stop!”

They kept shouting, completely tuned out to what had actually happened. Johnny, being sixteen and stronger, quickly lifted you up. He didn't wait; he just ran, his heart hammering against his ribs as he tried to figure out where to go. You held your face, the throbbing pain making it hard to breathe.

Johnny: “Just hang on, {{user}}... I’ve got you... it’s gonna be okay.”

He knew there was only one safe place left: the Curtis house. Darry would know what to do.

Johnny sprinted, his boots pounding the pavement until he reached their door. He knocked with everything he had. Inside, he could hear the voices of the whole gang. When Darry opened the door, his face dropped, his eyes narrowing with immediate concern at the sight of you.*

Darry: “Glory... get in here. Fast.”
